Wananavu Beach Resort is Fiji’s best-kept secret. It’s location on the northern tip of Fiji’s main Island, Viti Levu, offers seclusion, peace and quiet, far away from mainstream Fijian resorts. It has the feel of an island paradise with the convenience of the mainland.
A great reason to visit this delightful piece of Fijian paradise is the top quality diving. The Ra (or West) waters are world renowned for the quality of fish life, an abundance of colour and pristine conditions.
The Diving
There are two dive operations operating from Wananavu Beach Resort. Both are excellent, with qualified, experienced staff and a commitment to ecology and conservation.
Two and three tank dives per day will provide you with an incredible variety of sea life, all from a land based dive facility. From the tiniest of creatures to pelagics, from hard coral to hanging soft coral gardens, your experience will be one of awe and excitement.
The operators also make possible the renowned Bligh Waters and off shore reefs which until now have only been accessible by liveaboard vessels. There is also a larger and more suitable diveboat to travel to more remote reefs.

Amazing Maze
In the middle of the outer reef surrounding Nananu-I-Ra Island is a real maze. Tunnels, swim-throughs and canyons make up this wonderful dive site starting from 18-20m up to 10m. Every possible coloured reef fish that can be imagined swarm through the multicoloured soft coral. Black coral trees and Gorgonian Fans hang off the tunnel walls while Clown, Triggerfish and Squirrel Fish dash in and out.
Dreammaker
A large part of the outer reef in three sections containing gigantic walls of soft golden corals and multi-coloured corals. One of the best displays of magnificent live soft coral in Fiji. There are three separate walls of soft coral each different to the other with the deepest part of the dive in 18m and an average depth of 14-16m. Box fish and surgeon fish are seen in profusion with a group of deep sea snapper regularly present near the reef. Electric rays are occasionally seen during the dive.

Vatu-I-Ra Passage Dives and off shore reefs.
The Vatu-I-Ra Passage lies in the Bligh Waters between the Fiji mainland (Viti Levu) and Vanua Levu. Strong currents surge through the passage bringing rich nutrients and prolific fish life. The reef system produce some of the most pristine and colourful coral to be found in Fiji—arguably the best landbased dives in the country. Travel time to these dive sites is approximately 45 minutes.
Garden of Eden:
An incredible drift dive along a sloping wall in one of the many passages in the Vatu-I-Ra reef system. A veritable garden of abundant purple soft corals, hard corals and colourful reef fish.
Instant Replay:
Another drift dive on a sloping wall along the Vatu-I-Ra reef system.
This wall is loaded with multi colored soft corals, reef fish, and schools of trigger fish, trevally, reef sharks, and lion fish.
“The resort is set in lovely tropical gardens, and the swimming pool area is one of the best in Fiji.
The bungalows are probably some of the best accommodation you can get when combined with world class diving at your door step. The dives in the Vatu-I-Ra Passage are arguably the best in Fiji. While in a relatively undiscovered area of Fiji, I suggest you get there before the rest of the world discover the world class diving. Highly recommended for couples and honeymooners.”
