 The Reef Dive Resort at Mataking Island, is the newest and hottest dive spot. It is situated a little further away from Sipadan dive sites than Mabul or Kapalai (80 minutes by boat), but it’s beauty lies in it’s seclusion. At Mataking its not just all about diving. The night life can be exciting just watching the fire flies or the Green and Hawksbill turtles who come to lay their eggs in the Mataking sands. By day, you can bask on the snow white sandy beach and enjoy the sight of the island’s coconut crab scurrying up a tree, or take a walk while listening to the birds singing in the exotic garden. You can climb up the King’s Watchtower and enjoy the breathtaking sight, or grab a few friends and have some fun playing beach volleyball & beach soccer, taking up some traditional handicrafts, cooking and dancing lessons.

The Reef Dive Resort boasts 8 executive chalets and 24 deluxe rooms in traditional architecture offering simple but elegant accommodation for up to 70 guests. The air-conditioned rooms have attached sea view bathrooms and balcony.

The Diving
 Mataking’s reefs are vibrant and colourful. You’ll be able to spot pygmy seahorses, squat lobsters and blue-ringed octopus, goby and shrimp partnerships, blue-spotted rays and moray eels, while Nudibranchs abound with all the colours of the rainbow along the walls.
Photographers will love the colours on display as rocks and bommies are crowned with yellow, green and black featherstars, while lurking on the floor are likely to be snapper's favourites such as leaf fish and blue ribbon eels. All the while you will be surrounded by myriad reef inhabitants such as surgeonfish, moorish idols and angelfish, many being tended to by the fastidious little cleaner wrasses.
The resort offers three-tank dive boat trips daily to Mataking, Mataking Kecil, Pandanan and Bohayan, all between 5 and 20 minutes ride away. There are also 2 dive trips to Sipadan Island, 80 minutes away, on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
The dive centre uses four speed boats for diving Mataking and the surrounding reefs. Each boat is 8 - 10 metres in length with twin 100 HP engines, fitted for a maximum of ten divers. Divemasters are provided on all the diving day trips.
 Unlimited House Reef dives are also available in front of the resort - just walk in from beach.
Dive Fish Snow Travel Director " Ron Blake" rates these house reef dives as some of the best house reef dives he has done.
The resort dive centre has a fresh hot shower, equipment stations for guests' dive gear, and rinse tanks for equipment and underwater cameras.
