The warm sunny summer days are but a distant memory as
winter starts to settle in.
Now is the time of year to start thinking about the warm
turquoise waters of the tropical South Pacific, where manta
rays, humpback whales, shark action, school of big fish and
some awesome wreck dives are all waiting for you.
The good news is it's never been cheaper to get there. In
the 19 years Dive Fish Snow Travel have been sending divers

NZ dollar, some fantastic deals we have negotiated with the

| Marshall Islands – WWII Wrecks, Virgin Reefs |
In
our December issue of “Tropical Dive Times”, we promoted an exploration
trip to Micronesia to be amongst the first to dive on some untouched
reefs and wrecks in the Marshall Islands. 6 enthusiastic divers
joined Ron and Christine Blake (Directors of Dive Fish Snow Travel)
on an amazing exploration trip to Jaluit Atoll during April on
board "M.V. Oleanda".
Summary from Ron Blake:
The Marshall Islands is going to be the next truly untouched,
remote, exhilarating dive location that every one will want to
dive. I've dived extensively throughout
the Federated States of Micronesia, Palau, Truk Lagoon, and have
always rated the area as one of the best locations for diving.
The Marshall Islands is part of Micronesia and lived up to its
reputation as an awesome place to dive”.
The "M.V. Oleanda" has 3 very different and exciting
dive cruises to offer and relocates the vessel during the year
to take advantage of the best weather and diving conditions.
Jaluit and Rongelap Atolls – July to November
Here you will find pristine reefs that I assure you, few to no
divers have visited before. The hard corals would be the best I've
ever dived. The visibility is outstanding, 60 – 80 meters year
round, and the best gorgonian fan dive I've ever done. There are
few but very colourful soft corals, and an abundance of big fish
action in the atoll's passage ways and points. The smaller reef
fish are a kaleidoscope of colour as they dart around the coral
heads. Jaluit has 3 fantastic WWII plane dives, plus a Japanese
long liner sitting upright that you can see from the bow to the
stern, undisturbed by any salvage work. The fish life is good.
There is also the rib cage of an old sailing ship that still has
the huge wheel helm on the stern, and good macro life on it.
There is still a huge number of the atolls to explore and I know
the "Oleanda" crew will find even better sites over the
next few months.
Kwajalein Atoll - Dec to June
Attention all wreck divers!
For the avid wreck diver, this is the news you've been wanting
to hear but never thought could happen.
A stunning new wreck diving location that will take you 3 or 4
dives trips to dive every wreck, let alone explore them all.
From WWII battleship, cargo boats, tankers, tugs, fighter planes
and enormous sea planes, Kwajalein atoll has it all. If you can
pull yourself away from the awesome wrecks, there is some big fish
and shark action too.
Kwajalein Atoll was one of the biggest Japanese naval bases during
WWII. It was bombed, flattened and captured by the Americans, sinking
around fifty ships and dozens of aircraft. It later became the
American's military base. After WWII, Kwajalein became the nerve
center for the atomic bombs at nearby Bikini Atoll (350 km away
and is also a great wreck diving location). Since then it has been
a U.S. military facility and as such, off limits to recreational
divers.
Now this has all changed and from next year you will have the
opportunity to be among the first to dive on these wrecks from "M.V.Oleanda".

| Are you raring to go diving but don't have
a dive buddy? |
Solution: Give us a call. We have
lots of groups you can join this winter and be part of the camaraderie
and fellowship of other divers. We can even give ourselves a pat
on the back as about 20 single divers have joined our groups over
the years, and have met their future partners – the next holiday
they purchased was their honeymoon! No, we are not a dating service,
but we do make it easy and affordable for divers without a buddy
to go on a tropical dive holiday and have a lot of fun.
