Puerto Galera offers a plethora of exciting and diverse colourful dive sites for all levels of ability. Puerta Galera is accessed from Manila, a “hair raising” 2½ - 3 hour car journey, and then a pleasant 45 minute boat ride.
The Diving
The “Hole in the Wall” is one of the area’s most popular dive sites. Divers swim through the hole to reach large bommie corals on the other side surrounded by marine life of every description, including some great big fish action if you are lucky.
For a great night dive, try the “Pink Wall”. An overhanging wall at 10m is covered in pink soft corals and cup corals.
Near by, Sabang Wreck is an old fishing junk that was sunk in 1993 by local dive shops. See how an artific
reef has developed into a home for schools of batfish, moray eels, lion fish and many others.
“The Shark Caves”. Whitetip reef sharks rest here inside a 15m long overhang, alongside blue spotted sting rays. The surrounding area will reveal nudibranches, angelfish, moorish idols and much more.
The list of interesting dive sites in this area is almost endless.
Non-Diving Activities
Hire a motorcross bike and discover the jungle & tribespeople for yourself, or place a bet on a macho chicken at the cock fights – only for the strong of stomach! Don’t miss out on a colourful Jeepney ride through the sights & sounds of town. Tourism is the lifeblood of Puerta Galera and you will find it clean and tidy with friendly, smiling locals. We also recommend the Sunset Cruise around the bay. Meet people from all over the world while sipping an ice cold drink and admiring the spectacular sunset from one of the many beach front cafes, bars or restaurants.
