The 2 main dive boats used are in full current Survey and are registered to carry 50 people complete with enough life jackets and emergency Life rafts. They both have state of the art onboard computer systems, satellite navigation, GPS and Satellite phone communication.
M.V. Scubapro
The main dive boat is an 18mtr (60’) purpose built day dive boat previously working out of Cairns. Her Twin 247Kw Engines can propel her to a cruising speed of 15 Knots whilst still offering a smooth ride. Scubapro also has a 15 Kva 3 phase Generator supplying both 240 Volts AC, 12 and 24 Volts DC which supplies ample power to charge dive equipment and also powers the on board Bauer compressor which can fill 4 empty tanks to 210 Bar in 16 minutes.
She offers a large wet area to assemble dive gear and dry space to store it. The wet area leads to the rear of the boat to a purpose built lowerable dive platform complete with exit ladder. This makes an ideal entry/exit point for any diver regardless of experience level as several types of entry technique can be adopted depending on environmental conditions.
Technical diving is a dream as the platform can also be used to hang (12/9/6/3) deco bars, making it ideal for those long Deco stops. Surface support comes in the form of an inflatable, complete with outboard motor.
The Company Flagship is a 30 mtr (100ft”), ex fishing vessel, in the process of being converted into an exclusive 12 person live aboard.
She is also used for transfers of large dive groups to and from Maravagi, which she manages effortlessly with a cruising speed of 10 knots, keeping everyone and their equipment dry. At present, the lounge includes a 50-inch plasma screen and DVD player combo, also a large air conditioner to ensure a comfortable crossing.
She has ample dive gear storage space on board and also has 2 compressors for filling tanks.
At present diving is done from two fibreglass tenders with twin 40 hp Yamaha Enduros, each capable of carrying 10 people to and from dive sites with ease and comfort in all types of weather conditions.
All diving from Honiara is done from purpose built dive tenders.
