Are you a novice/intermediate skier?
Don’t be intimidated by the thought of skiing or boarding
the amazing slopes in North America if you’re a novice or
intermediate skier.
Clients
planning their first international skiing holiday often have a misconception
that the skiing in North America is difficult and may be beyond
their capabilities. The reality is quite the opposite.
There’s no ice, no queues, no closures, no crowds. Your accommodation,
restaurants, bars and shops are all on mountain. To start your day,
simply open your doors, put on your skis/board and the fun starts
right then at your doorstep.
The long green or blue runs are mostly 3-5kms long, are uncrowded
and you don’t have to worry about that out of control boarder
behind you! Most runs are groomed each night so it is easy skiing.
They are long easy cruising wide open tree lined runs, very pretty,
very easy and exhilarating. This is skiing the way it’s meant
to be!
The bottom line is if you can ski in NZ’s tough weather
and mountain conditions you will find the conditions in North America
are paradise!

Ski and Board North America Information Centre
Closed for the season.
After a successful season with the opening of our new office
in July I have had to close for the season and return to Auckland
in preparation for my own travels to North America (this season to
Jackson Hole).
I would like to thank everyone that has supported the office this
season and wish those of you that are heading to North America a
fantastic holiday. It sounds like it will be a great season with
some resorts already reporting snow.
The Ski and Board North America Information

| Now I am no weather guru, but I do know that the mountain weather
conditions in Canada, Colarado and Lake Tahoe
are just so amazingly different to our NZ conditions. To put things
in perspective, the Rocky Mountains are bigger than
the whole of NZ so their climatic conditions are very different to
that of our Southern Alps or Mt Ruapehu, making North America very
conducive to skiing and fun in the snow.
Customers often ask “what if the mountains are closed
due to bad weather?”. The answer is simply –
they never close! No or poor snow? – even a bad season in
Canada is much better than a good season in NZ!
In North America the snow is great fun. It’s dry dry powder
snow so that means there’s no ice (and it’s
very forgiving when you fall over!), and your gear and clothing
stays dry so no need for drying rooms. The wind hardly blows, there
are seldom any “white outs”, and the Weather Gods have
made a fantastic fun place for us all to enjoy.

All good things must come to an end.
So must the early bird specials offered by the mountain resorts,
hotels and airlines. The cheap seats and cheap rooms are going,
going, almost gone! The resort specials such as cheap lift and season
passes and accommodation specials are coming to a close during this
month.
Airfares.
There are only a limited number of airline seats that are sold at
discounted rates. Now, most Kiwis think that going to Canada and
USA during winter is low season: after all, unless you’re
a snow bunny who would leave a NZ summer to go to winter? But that
is the exact reason why planes are very full between January
and April – it’s all the American visitors
coming to the NZ summer and the Canadians going to Honolulu to escape
their winter that makes the Honolulu / Vancouver and Los Angeles
flights very full over this time.
To take advantage of the specials all you need to do is ACT
NOW!.
