All good thing must come to an end.
So must the early bird specials offered by the mountain
resorts, hotels and airlines. The cheap seats and cheap
rooms are going, going, almost gone! The resort specials
such as early bird lift and season passes and accommodation
specials are coming to a close during this month.
Airfares
There are only a limited number of airline seats that
are sold at discounted rates. Most Kiwis think that
going to Canada and USA during winter is low season and
that flights will be almost empty after all, unless you're
a snow bunny who would leave a NZ summer to go to winter?
But it's
all the American visitors coming to the NZ summer and the
Canadians going to Honolulu to escape their winter that
makes the Honolulu / Vancouver and Los Angeles flights
very full between January to April.

Another good reason to act now. All major airlines including Air New Zealand
and Air Canada are likely to change their luggage allowance for bookings made
after 30 September 2005. Currently, if you are travelling to Canada and the
U.S.A. you can take two bags with each bag weighing up to 32kgs - that's a
total of 64kgs per person. For bookings made from 01 October, this will change
to two bags with each bag weighing up to 23kgs - that's a total of 46kgs per
person! This is just another good reason to book by 30 September to avoid paying
excess luggage fees! N.Z. domestic flights in conjunction with flights to Canada
and the U.S.A. will also change to the above, check with us for details.

Opens Longest Lift Ever Built At Rocky Mountain Resort
The spectacular Grizzly Express Gondola allows
skiers and boarders to travel non-stop to the peak of Lake
Louise Mountain Resort. It cuts the time spent on lifts
in half before heading to the backside of the famed resort,
consistently recognized for offering the most spectacular
scenery in North America. The gondola is almost 10,000
feet or three kilometers in length.
The Grizzly Express
Gondola means more powder, more great skiing, quicker access

Hosts : Free Service |
 All major North America Ski Resorts have Snow Hosts to guide
you around their mountain.
Generally, snow hosts are semi retired local skiers and boarders
who know every nook and cranny of the mountain. They love to
tell you there local history of the area as they guide you around
in small groups, normally no more than 6-8 people at a time.
They offer this free service twice a day, morning and afternoon,
breaking into groups of similar skiing ability for maximum enjoyment.
You can ski with hosts as often as you like. This is one of the
best services available at the Ski Resorts and it's Free.

Long Season : November - April / May |
Most ski resorts open mid November and close mid April to late May,
with generally the best conditions from mid Jan – early April.
Now, don't think that because the resorts close in April – May
that it's because of lack of snow. No : it's due to lack of skiers
and riders from their local area or they may be in a National
Park and the Bears are waking up and skiers and bears don't
mix. The snow is still great!
Some resorts, particularly around the Banff area boast of their
best days being in April, with longer sunnier blue sky days, and
a great snow base. They often close with a 3-4 meter base! |
| Exchange Rate: Act now while it's
still good.
Despite the dropping exchange rate, the USD and CAD rates are still pretty good.
However, the prediction is for it to drop lower later this year which will impact
on NZD prices.
